Thixotropy of a Transparent Clay Manufactured Using Carbopol to Simulate Marine Soil

نویسندگان

چکیده

A transparent clay manufactured using Carbopol® UltrezTM 10 (simplified as U10) was introduced, and its manufacturing processes were briefly described. Both relative transparency (RT) modulation transfer function (MTF) methods used to quantify the optical character variation via soil thickness. The of this new analyzed compared with four traditional materials. thixotropic properties synthetic measured in detail through laboratory vane test. An exponential describe thixotropy sensitivity clay. results showed that has a relatively higher than majority previous Good-fitting similar development trend for natural ones. Furthermore, low medium, which can simulate marine soil. With clays, shows great potential substitute is expected be widely model tests.

Using a Virtual Reality Environment to Simulate the Pushing of Cylindrical Nanoparticles

With the rise in the use of AFM (Atomic Force Microscope), we have witnessed a growing use of atomic microscope based nanorobots in the precise displacement of various particles. There are certain limitations to the application of nanorobots in the moving of nanoparticles. One of the most important of these limitations is the lack of an appropriate image feedback concurrent with the displaci...

Spatial variation in herbicide leaching from a marine clay soil via subsurface drains

BACKGROUND Subsurface transport via tile drains can significantly contribute to pesticide contamination of surface waters. The spatial variation in subsurface leaching of normally applied herbicides was examined together with phosphorus losses in 24 experimental plots with water sampled flow-proportionally. The study site was a flat, tile-drained area with 60% marine clay in the topsoil in sout...

Predicting ε50 for Lateral Behavior of Piles in Marine Clay Using an Evolutionary Based Approach

Analyzing piles subjected to lateral loads significantly depends on soil resistance at any point along the pile as a function of pile deflection, known as p-y curve. On the other hand, the deformation characteristics of soil defined as “the soil strain at 50% of maximum deviatoric stress (ε50)” has considerable effect on the generated p-y curve. In this research, several models are proposed to ...

A mesh generation procedure to simulate bimaterials

It is difficult to develop an algorithm which is able to generate the appropriate mesh around the interfaces in bimaterials. In this study, a corresponding algorithm is proposed for this class of unified structures made from different materials with arbitrary shapes. The non-uniform mesh is generated adaptively based on advancing front technique available in Abaqus software. Implementing severa...
